| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Lynn Otis "Orville" Blair, who passed |
| 4 | | away on February 9th, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Blair was born in Cutler to Harvey and Lena |
| 6 | | Blair on December 31, 1929; he graduated from Pinckneyville |
| 7 | | High School in 1947; he married Barbara Hulett in Rock Island |
| 8 | | in February of 1951; he was drafted by the U.S. Army shortly |
| 9 | | thereafter and completed basic training in Hawaii at Schofield |
| 10 | | Barracks; he served 18 months in the Panama Canal before |
| 11 | | heading home to East Moline in 1953; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Upon returning to the U.S., Lynn Blair started his |
| 13 | | first 30-year career at Northwestern Bell and AT&T as a journey |
| 14 | | lineman; after retiring from the phone company, he started his |
| 15 | | second 30-year career at Flowers by Fredericks delivering |
| 16 | | flowers; he found great joy and made the extra effort to |
| 17 | | deliver flowers to nursing homes and hospital rooms in person; |
| 18 | | he retired in 2015; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Blair enjoyed spending time with his family |
| 20 | | and friends, taking long drives on country roads, and playing |
| 21 | | shuffle board; he was noted for his love of flowers and having |
| 22 | | the best-looking yard on 3rd street A; he was an avid Cardinals |

| 1 | | fan and had the honor of visiting all three Cardinals stadiums |
| 2 | | in his lifetime; he was also recognized as the number one |
| 3 | | United Township basketball fan, attending every practice and |
| 4 | | almost every game for three straight years; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Blair was preceded in death by his parents, |
| 6 | | Harvey and Lena Blair; his brothers, Don and Harold (Doc) |
| 7 | | Blair; his sisters-in-law, Ruth and Neola Blair; his wife, |
| 8 | | Barbara Blair; his granddaughter, Kayla Blair; and his special |
| 9 | | friend, Pam Yakovich; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Lynn Blair is survived by his children, Mary |
| 11 | | (Dave) Crotty, Steve (Amy) Blair, Becky (Kevin) DeMeyer, and |
| 12 | | Brian (Amy) Blair; his grandchildren, Jeff Crotty, Jenny (Steve |
| 13 | | Kaiser) Crotty, Todd (Bobbie Jo) Crotty, Sara (Sam Gerard) |
| 14 | | Blair, Angie (Nate Webber) Blair, Joey (Tera) DeMeyer, Johnny |
| 15 | | (Becca) DeMeyer, Jared (Summer) DeMeyer, Kara (Nick Maldonado) |
