SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Coroner Cinda J. Edwards of Springfield, 
4who passed away along with her husband on January 28, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Cinda Edwards was born in Springfield to Kenneth 
6and Eloise (Collins) Janssen on October 9, 1956; she graduated 
7from Glenwood High School in 1974; she attended  Lincoln Land 
8Community College and earned an associate's degree in nursing 
9in 1979; she married Frank E. Edwards on January 15, 1983; she 
10later received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Sangamon 
11State University in 1989; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Cinda Edwards worked as a nurse at Priority Care 
13from 1984 until 2011; she was appointed Sangamon County Coroner 
14in 2011; she loved what she did and took pride in making the 
15Coroner's office the best it could be; alongside her husband, 
16she owned and operated Springfield Auto Body and Towing from  
172005 onwards; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Cinda Edwards was involved in several local 
19organizations, such as the Sangamon County Republicans; she 
20also held a number of leadership roles, including serving as  
21past president for the Illinois Coroner's Association and as 
22president for her final two years as a member of the Lincoln

1Land Community College Board of Trustees; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Cinda Edwards loved to play tennis and enjoyed 
3boating; she especially loved her family and their beloved 
4doodle, Lily, as well as their rescue dog, Nicky; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Cinda Edwards was preceded in death by her 
6parents; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Cinda Edwards is survived by her son, Alex 
8Edwards; her sister-in-law, Judy Rich; her nieces, Nancianne 
9(Mark) Knipfer and Sheri (Douglas) Iwanicki; her great-nieces, 
10Julia Knipfer, Abby Knipfer, and Madi Iwanicki; her 
11great-nephew, Gabe Iwanicki; her uncle, Hubert J. Collins; and 
12her cousins, Steve Collins and Kathy Hernandez; therefore, be 
13it
  
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
16Coroner Cinda J. Edwards and extend our sincere condolences to 
17her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
18further
  
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
20presented to the family of Cinda Edwards as an expression of 
21our deepest sympathy.
