| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Bernard E. "Bernie" Drew of Libertyville, |
| 4 | | who passed away on November 1, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bernie Drew was born and raised in Waukegan; he |
| 6 | | received his undergraduate degree from Miami of Ohio in 1964 |
| 7 | | and his Juris Doctorate from Marquette University; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bernie Drew started his law career in private |
| 9 | | practice; he was appointed an associate judge in 1975, one of |
| 10 | | the youngest to hold this position in Lake County; he was |
| 11 | | elected circuit judge in 1984 and retained in 1990 and 1996; he |
| 12 | | was the chief judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court in 1989 |
| 13 | | and 1990; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Bernie Drew loved being involved in his children's |
| 15 | | lives; he was especially fond of coaching Libertyville Boys |
| 16 | | Club Football; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Bernie Drew is survived by his wife of 50 years, |
| 18 | | Lauren; his children, Chris and Meg; his niece and nephews, |
| 19 | | Jodie Bryan, Alan Nogle, Justin Houcek, and Andrew Houcek; and |
| 20 | | his extended family; therefore, be it
