| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Sue A. "Suzy" Carter of Springfield, |
| 4 | | formerly of Beardstown, who passed away on August 17, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Suzy Carter was born in Rensselaer, Indiana to |
| 6 | | Virgil Frederick and Ione Josephine (Overton) Linback on |
| 7 | | September 12, 1942; she married Robert Carter at the First |
| 8 | | Christian Church in Rensselaer, Indiana on October 3, 1964; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Suzy Carter began her 38-year career as a |
| 10 | | Registered Nurse working in Oncology in Rensselaer, Indiana; |
| 11 | | she moved to Beardstown and worked at Beardstown Hospital, |
| 12 | | Culbertson Hospital in Rushville, and Passavant Hospital in |
| 13 | | Jacksonville; she retired from the Springfield Clinic in 2006; |
| 14 | | she was the owner and operator of the Clothes Connection in |
| 15 | | Beardstown from 1980 until 1982; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, In 1971, Suzy Carter was the first woman to serve |
| 17 | | on the Beardstown City Council; she was instrumental in |
| 18 | | starting the first softball program in Beardstown for girls |
| 19 | | ages nine to twelve; she was a member of the First Evangelical |
| 20 | | Lutheran Church in Beardstown; she was an avid fan of the |
| 21 | | Chicago Cubs, the Indiana Hoosiers, and the Indianapolis 500; |
| 22 | | she enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge, skiing in |
