| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Deputy Jacob Howard Keltner of Crystal |
| 4 | | Lake, who passed away on March 7, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner was born to Howard and Helen |
| 6 | | Keltner; he graduated from Western Illinois University with a |
| 7 | | degree in Spanish and a minor in law enforcement and justice |
| 8 | | administration; he married Rebecca Lee Cranston on August 10, |
| 9 | | 2007; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner knew he wanted to be a police |
| 11 | | officer from a young age; he started in a civilian position |
| 12 | | with the DuPage County Sheriff's Department and soon joined the |
| 13 | | McHenry County Sheriff's Department, where he worked patrol; he |
| 14 | | then moved into investigations as a detective; he worked for |
| 15 | | seven years in narcotics while assigned to the United States |
| 16 | | Drug Enforcement Administration-Rockford Office Group #39; for |
| 17 | | the last five years he was assigned to the United States |
| 18 | | Marshal Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner enjoyed working out, biking, and |
| 20 | | swimming with his boys during the summer; he was an avid fan of |
| 21 | | the Chicago Cubs; he was a prankster and had a contagious laugh |
| 22 | | and could talk to anyone he met; and
