| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Joseph "Bob" Shipley of Granite |
| 4 | | City, who passed away on February 17, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Shipley was born in Granite City to Robert C. |
| 6 | | and Patricia A. (Ryan) Shipley on May 23, 1956; he married |
| 7 | | Margaret A. (Schnefke) Shipley at Sacred Heart Catholic Church |
| 8 | | in Granite City; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Bob Shipley most recently served as the Granite |
| 10 | | City Township Supervisor and on the Americas Port District |
| 11 | | Board of Commissioners; he had worked for the Metro East |
| 12 | | Sanitary District as the executive director for 10 years, as |
| 13 | | well as with the Department of Motor Vehicles in Granite City |
| 14 | | and with Metallico TaraCorp for several years; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bob Shipley was a Granite City Alderman, precinct |
| 16 | | committeeman, Madison County Board Member, Phoenix Crisis |
| 17 | | Center Board Member, and Southwestern Illinois Flood |
| 18 | | Protection District Council member; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Bob Shipley was a member of Holy Family Catholic |
| 20 | | Church in Granite City, the Knights of Columbus #1098, and the |
| 21 | | Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1126 in Granite City; he |

| 1 | | enjoyed fishing, eating sweets, and playing and coaching |
| 2 | | football, softball, and various other sports; he achieved a |
| 3 | | multi-sport national championship; he also enjoyed creating |
| 4 | | art, painting, drawing, crafts, everything Disney, watching |
| 5 | | musicals, and decorating for his favorite holiday, Christmas; |
| 6 | | his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially |
| 7 | | with his grandchildren; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bob Shipley was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 9 | | his brother, Thomas Michael Shipley; and his uncle, Thomas |
| 10 | | Ryan; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bob Shipley is survived by his wife, Margaret; his |
| 12 | | son, Luke (Lauren) Shipley; his daughters, Beth and Kari |
| 13 | | Shipley; his grandchildren, Peyton and Conner Shipley; his |
| 14 | | mother-in-law, Irene Schnefke; his brother-in-law, Bill |
| 15 | | Schnefke; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and |
| 16 | | Pat Davis; his aunts and uncle, Sandy and Larry Richey and |
| 17 | | Nadine Ryan; and numerous other extended family and wonderful |
| 18 | | friends; therefore, be it
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
| 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 21 | | Robert Joseph "Bob" Shipley and extend our sincere condolences |
| 22 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
| 23 | | it further
