HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Ava Ramsey on being named one of the State's top youth volunteers in the 25th annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and

WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, were created in 1995 to honor young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; more than 29,000 young people across the country participated in this year's program; and

WHEREAS, Ava Ramsey, a resident of Peoria and a student at Peoria Christian School, earned this award by volunteering hundreds of hours to work with middle school students in her community's drama program; her efforts included creating and teaching choreography, teaching technique, making props, managing lighting and sound, and recruiting other volunteers; and

WHEREAS, Ava Ramsey is a drama participant herself and was inspired to start this volunteer activity by her mother and grandmother, who both share her passion for the arts; and

WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young people like Ava Ramsey who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ava Ramsey on receiving a Prudential Spirit of Community Award and recognize her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit; we wish her many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ava Ramsey as an expression of our esteem and respect.
