| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 | | 1-3 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/1-3) (from Ch. 122, par. 1-3)

| 7 | | Sec. 1-3. Definitions.
|
| 8 | | The terms "common schools", "free schools" and "public |
| 9 | | schools" are used
interchangeably to apply to any school |
| 10 | | operated by authority of this Act.
|
| 11 | | "Family" means, unless otherwise defined in this Code, a |
| 12 | | group of persons related through marriage, adoption or foster |
| 13 | | care, or consanguinity and includes parents, adoptive parents, |
| 14 | | stepparents, foster parents, spouses, children, brothers, |
| 15 | | sisters, grandparents, uncles, or aunts. |
| 16 | | "School board" means the governing body of any district |
| 17 | | created or
operating under authority of this Act, including |
| 18 | | board of school directors
and board of education. When the |
| 19 | | context so indicates it also means the
governing body of any |
| 20 | | non-high school district and of any special charter
district, |
| 21 | | including board of school inspectors.

| 22 | | "Special charter district" means any city, township or |
| 23 | | district
organized into a school district, under a special Act |
