Amends various Acts relating to the governance of public universities and community colleges in Illinois. Provides that, beginning with the 2020-2021 academic year, at the beginning of each academic year or semester, in creating a financial aid award letter for students of a university or community college who qualify for financial aid or assistance, the university or community college must include in the letter a clear breakdown of how much assistance or aid has been awarded to the student from each source, including the amount of any scholarships granted by the university or community college or by a private entity or the amount any federal grants.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by adding Section 105 as follows:

Sec. 105. Financial aid award letter. Beginning with the 2020-2021 academic year, at the beginning of each academic year or semester, in creating a financial aid award letter for students of the University who qualify for financial aid or assistance, the University must include in the letter a clear breakdown of how much assistance or aid has been awarded to the student from each source, including the amount of any scholarships granted by the University or by a private entity or the amount of any federal grants.

Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management Act is amended by adding Section 90 as follows:

Sec. 90. Financial aid award letter. Beginning with the 2020-2021 academic year, at the beginning of each academic year or semester, in creating a financial aid award letter for students of the University who qualify for financial aid or assistance, the University must include in the letter a clear breakdown of how much assistance or aid has been awarded to the student from each source, including the amount of any scholarships granted by the University or by a private entity or the amount of any federal grants.

Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended by adding Section 5-200 as follows:

Section 35. The Northeastern Illinois University Law is amended by adding Section 25-200 as follows:

Section 50. The Public Community College Act is amended by adding Section 3-29.13 as follows:
