Amends various Acts relating to the governance of public universities and community colleges in Illinois. Provides that a university or community college district may not require a student, as part of his or her financial aid verification process, to submit a letter to the university or community college district indicating why the student's parent or guardian is not employed, does not file taxes, or does not have a federal Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by adding Section 105 as follows:

Sec. 105. Financial aid information. The University may not require a student, as part of his or her financial aid verification process, to submit a letter to the University indicating why the student's parent or guardian is not employed, does not file taxes, or does not have a federal Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management Act is amended by adding Section 90 as follows:

Sec. 90. Financial aid information. The University may not require a student, as part of his or her financial aid verification process, to submit a letter to the University indicating why the student's parent or guardian is not employed, does not file taxes, or does not have a federal Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended by adding Section 5-200 as follows:
