| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of John J. Walkup, formerly of Waukegan, who |
| 4 | | passed away on November 5, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Walkup was born to William Marvin and Mary |
| 6 | | Effie (Wells) Walkup on October 6, 1923; he served in the U.S. |
| 7 | | Army and retired after 20 years of service; he married Phyllis |
| 8 | | White in Peoria Heights on July 28, 1944; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, John Walkup enjoyed metal detecting, tinkering |
| 10 | | around his house, repairing bicycles, antiquing, recycling, |
| 11 | | and being a handyman; he remodeled much of his home himself; he |
| 12 | | was a longtime member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in |
| 13 | | Waukegan; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, John Walkup was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 15 | | Phyllis; his parents; his siblings, Estel, James, William, |
| 16 | | Ralph, Grover, Francis, Marvin, Virginia, and Wilma; and an |
| 17 | | infant son, Gregory Keith Walkup; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, John Walkup is survived by his children, Jan |
| 19 | | (Cindy) Walkup, Janine (Bill) Lopez, and Julia (Clarence) |
| 20 | | Hagan; his sister, Betty Dirks; 16 grandchildren; and 13 |
| 21 | | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
