| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of James E. "Jim" "Doc" Donlan of Peoria, |
| 4 | | who passed away on December 8, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Donlan was born in Joliet to Thomas and Mary |
| 6 | | (Schmitz) Donlan on July 26, 1932; he graduated from the |
| 7 | | Spalding Institute in 1950, attended Xavier University, and |
| 8 | | graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago College of |
| 9 | | Dentistry in 1957; he married Carol A. DeBoer in Whitinsville, |
| 10 | | Massachusetts on July 6, 1957; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Donlan was a highly respected dentist in |
| 12 | | Peoria and retired in 2012; while he specialized in the |
| 13 | | treatment of patients with oral cancer, his most notable |
| 14 | | passion in the dental profession was his involvement with the |
| 15 | | Central Illinois Oral Facial Anomaly Team and the pursuant care |
| 16 | | of children afflicted with cleft lip and palates; he was also |
| 17 | | the team dentist for the Peoria Rivermen, the Peoria Chiefs, |
| 18 | | and the Bradley Athletic Department for many years; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his dental career, Jim Donlan was an |
| 20 | | active member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois |
| 21 | | State Dental Society, and the Peoria District Dental Society, |
| 22 | | of which he was president from 1976 until 1977; he was |
|

| 1 | | president of the Illinois Academy of Dental Practice |
| 2 | | Administration; he also had many active roles in the ISDS |
| 3 | | Clopper Philanthropic Foundation; he was elected as a fellow in |
| 4 | | The American College of Dentistry in 1989; he was a founding |
| 5 | | member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish; he was involved in Peoria |
| 6 | | youth hockey and youth baseball leagues; he was an avid fan of |
| 7 | | Notre Dame football, the Chicago Cubs, and the St. Louis Blues; |
| 8 | | he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and |
| 9 | | family and family get-togethers and vacations; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Donlan was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 11 | | his brother, Thomas Dolan; his sister-in-law, Jean Donlan; and |
| 12 | | his brother-in-law, Fred DeBoer; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Jim Donlan is survived by his wife, Carol; his |
| 14 | | children, Colleen (Doug) Andreasen, James (Lynnette) Donlan, |
| 15 | | Maureen (John) Geisen, Kathleen Popovich, Eileen (Rob) Rupel, |
| 16 | | John Donlan, Ann (Billy) Sheahan, and Joe (Sarah) Donlan; his |
| 17 | | 26 grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his special |
| 18 | | family member, Sean (Amy) Ortiz; his brothers, Jack and Bob |
| 19 | | Donlan; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Donlan and Irene DeBoer; |
| 20 | | therefore, be it

| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
| 22 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
