| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Donald Eugene "Don" Lenz of Freeport, who |
| 4 | | passed away on December 1, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Don Lenz was born to LeRoy and Francenia (Taylor) |
| 6 | | Lenz on January 14, 1930; he was a lifelong resident of |
| 7 | | Freeport; after his parents separated, he left high school to |
| 8 | | work full time to support his mother, his three younger |
| 9 | | sisters, and his younger brother; as a teenager, he became the |
| 10 | | head of the family and inspired his younger siblings; no |
| 11 | | stranger to hard work, he continued to work various jobs and |
| 12 | | also earned his GED; he said the best thing he ever did was |
| 13 | | marry Delores "Dee" McDonald on December 8, 1950; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Don Lenz retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire |
| 15 | | Company, where he made many lifelong friends; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Don Lenz was a member of St. Joseph Catholic |
| 17 | | Church; he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, |
| 18 | | where he loved playing cards and being with friends; he was a |
| 19 | | devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers; his greatest joy was |
| 20 | | spending time with his family and friends; he will be |
| 21 | | remembered for his quick wit and humor, telling jokes, and |
| 22 | | playing games; and
