| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Nancy J. Monroe of Morton, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on November 22, 2018; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Nancy Monroe was born in Cadott, Wisconsin to | ||||||
| 6 | Floyd and Bernice Hanson on October 10, 1939; her family moved | ||||||
| 7 | to San Jose when she was very young, and, when not in school, | ||||||
| 8 | she worked for her father at Hanson's Dairy; at San Jose High | ||||||
| 9 | School, she was named Junior-Senior prom queen, wrote for the | ||||||
| 10 | school paper, performed in plays, was a cheerleader, and served | ||||||
| 11 | as majorette; she was an accomplished baton twirler, competed | ||||||
| 12 | in regional and national contests, and taught the skill to | ||||||
| 13 | young girls; after high school, she attended Patricia Stevens | ||||||
| 14 | Modeling School in Chicago and then Brown's Business School in | ||||||
| 15 | Peoria; she married Roger Monroe on May 22, 1960; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Following graduation, Nancy Monroe worked for the | ||||||
| 17 | Peoria Convention and Visitors Bureau; while raising her | ||||||
| 18 | children, she worked for District 150 as a library manager; she | ||||||
| 19 | also served as the purchasing secretary at Methodist Hospital | ||||||
| 20 | and as the associate secretary at First United Methodist | ||||||
| 21 | Church, where she also helped start the Fine Arts Festival; and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Nancy Monroe volunteered in the Pediatric | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Department at Methodist Hospital, taught Sunday school, served | ||||||
| 2 | on the board of the Wardcliffe Homeowners Association, modeled, | ||||||
| 3 | participated as a PTO member at Sterling School, coordinated an | ||||||
| 4 | annual fundraiser for the Peoria Christian Center summer | ||||||
| 5 | basketball program, and worked as a poll watcher; she was a | ||||||
| 6 | member of the International Order of King's Daughters and Sons; | ||||||
| 7 | she loved to travel; one of her greatest joys was welcoming her | ||||||
| 8 | grandsons into the world, and she was thrilled when asked to | ||||||
| 9 | babysit; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Nancy Monroe was preceded in death by her parents | ||||||
| 11 | and her sister, Rosemary Murray; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Nancy Monroe is survived by her husband of 58 | ||||||
| 13 | years, Roger; her sons, Dan (Julie) Monroe and Zack S. (Missy) | ||||||
| 14 | Monroe; her grandsons, Kyle, Christopher, and Scott Monroe; and | ||||||
| 15 | her sister, Marlene Blane; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Nancy J. Monroe and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 20 | further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 22 | presented to the family of Nancy Monroe as an expression of our | ||||||
