SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Chicago Police Department Officer Samuel 
4Jimenez, who passed away on November 19, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez was killed in the line of duty 
6while responding to gun shots in the area of Mercy Hospital's 
7emergency room on Chicago's South Side; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez attended Foreman High School in 
9Chicago and Northeastern Illinois University; after graduating 
10from the police academy, he was assigned to the Town Hall 
11District and then to Wentworth on the South Side; he earned two 
12honorable mentions during his less than two years with the 
13department; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez and his family regularly attended 
15Mass at the Chapel of St. Joseph at the Shrine of Our Lady of 
16Guadalupe; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez was a loving husband, father, 
18friend, and colleague; he had a passion to serve others; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Officer Jimenez is survived by his wife, Crystal, 
20and his three children; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Chicago Police Department Officer Samuel Jimenez and extend our 
4sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew 
5and loved him; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to  the family of  Officer Jimenez as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
