| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Marjorie J. Du Vivier of Godfrey, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 5, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Du Vivier was born in East St. Louis to |
| 6 | | Olin Moody and Katharine Fairbrother Attebery on November 2, |
| 7 | | 1922; she graduated from the Mary Institute in St. Louis; she |
| 8 | | earned her Bachelor of Arts from Mount Holyoke College in |
| 9 | | Massachusetts and later attended the University of Alabama, SIU |
| 10 | | Edwardsville, and Lewis and Clark Community College; she |
| 11 | | married Edward K. "Ned" Du Vivier M.D. in St. Louis on April |
| 12 | | 12, 1947; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Du Vivier moved with her husband to Alton |
| 14 | | in 1950, where she was active in many community service |
| 15 | | organizations; she was particularly interested in working with |
| 16 | | handicapped adults and children and was a charter member of the |
| 17 | | Junior Service League of Alton (later the Junior League of |
| 18 | | Greater Alton); she served with the Alton Community Service |
| 19 | | League for 25 years and was on the Leisure Friends Steering |
| 20 | | Committee for 24 years; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Marjorie Du Vivier was preceded in death by her |
| 22 | | husband, Ned; her parents; and her brother, Olin Merry |
