| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Jesse James Ratfield of Marengo, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 10, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jesse Ratfield was born to Merritt and Margaret |
| 6 | | (Schwarz) Ratfield on November 19, 1925; he was raised on a |
| 7 | | farm in Marengo and graduated from Marengo Community High |
| 8 | | School in 1943; after graduating, he joined the United States |
| 9 | | Marine Corp, where he was a corporal with the Marine Air |
| 10 | | Warning Squadron 7; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jesse Ratfield retired from a management position |
| 12 | | at Commonwealth Edison after 39 years of service; after |
| 13 | | retirement, he and his wife relocated to Palm Bay, Florida; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jesse Ratfield was an elder at The First |
| 15 | | Presbyterian Church in Marengo; he was a 32nd degree Master |
| 16 | | Mason, a past President of the McHenry County Shrine Club, a |
| 17 | | member of the Shriners Air Squadron, a past financial advisor |
| 18 | | for the Tebala Shriners, and a past Commander at the Marengo |
| 19 | | VFW; in 2013, he was inducted into the Marengo Community High |
| 20 | | School Football Hall of Fame; he enjoyed flying, traveling, |
| 21 | | fishing, and golfing; he will be remembered for his wonderful |
| 22 | | storytelling abilities; and
