| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of John M. Elliott Jr., who passed away on |
| 4 | | June 14, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. was born in Rockford to John Sr. |
| 6 | | and Myrtle (Wiles) Elliott on February 16, 1945; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Harlem High School, attended Rock Valley College, and |
| 8 | | served in the United States Air Force for four years; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. worked at Woodward from 1965 |
| 10 | | until 2000; after an early retirement, he and his wife |
| 11 | | purchased the Dairy Depot, and he also began to work as a |
| 12 | | consultant for American Governor as a leading expert on |
| 13 | | hydraulic turbine controls; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. loved community service and |
| 15 | | worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Loves Park Volunteer |
| 16 | | Fire Department for over 20 years; he also served on the Boards |
| 17 | | for the Greater Rockford Airport Authority, Winnebago County, |
| 18 | | Harlem School, and the Salvation Army; he was a Trustee for the |
| 19 | | Village of Machesney Park, President of the Parks Chamber of |
| 20 | | Commerce, and a Booster of the Young at Heart Festival; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. was preceded in death by his |
