SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Denis James McDowell of Lake Forest, who 
4passed away on May 18, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Denis McDowell was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin to 
6Thomas and Florence (Grady) McDowell in 1924; he graduated from 
7Wauwatosa High School in 1942; he enlisted in the United States 
8Air Force as a navigator and was involved in air reconnaissance 
9missions over the United States during World War II; he 
10utilized the GI Bill and graduated from Marquette University 
11with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; he married 
12Murlyn J. Scherr on April 15, 1950; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Denis McDowell worked as a salesman, office sales 
14manager, and then regional sales manager for companies that 
15specialized in process instrumentation and control systems 
16integration sales, including Honeywell, Fischer and Porter, 
17and Yokogawa; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Denis McDowell and Murlyn spent the first 17 years 
19of their married life in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and then moved to 
20Lake Forest, Illinois, where he lived in the same residence 
21until his passing; he loved sports and was an avid golfer and 
22tennis player; and

1    WHEREAS, Denis McDowell was preceded in death by his 
2parents and his wife, Murlyn; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Denis McDowell is survived by his sons, Mark 
4(Susan) and Scott; and his grandchild, Alexander; therefore, be 
5it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Denis James McDowell and extend our sincere condolences to his 
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Denis McDowell as an expression of 
13our deepest sympathy.
