SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Billy E. Sherrod of East Moline, who passed away on May 18, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Claude F. Sr. and Pauline Ralston Sherrod on March 3, 1932; he served in the U.S. Army and married JoAnn L. Ponce in East Moline on October 30, 1954; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod worked as a welder and set-up man for Ametek and the George Evans Corp. for many years; he retired in 1994; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod enjoyed gardening, fishing, gambling, going to garage sales, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennis Sherrod; his brothers, Thomas and Claude F. Sherrod Jr.; and his sisters, Helen Anderson and Dorothy Nelson; and

WHEREAS, Billy Sherrod is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his daughters, Terri (Mark) Henry and Sandra (Carl) Horton; his daughter-in-law, Lisa (Jim) Sherrod Coleman; his grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Johnson, Derrick (Brooke) Johnson, Jordan (Allyson) Henry, Yvonne (Paul) Lane, Whitney (Jordan) Lane, Scott Horton, Joshua (Amanda) Sherrod, Jamie Sherrod, and Jennifer Sherrod; his great-grandchildren, Brennen, Izak, Adalyn, Laura, Alivia, Landin, Sawyer, Ashlyn, Ava, Colton, Ethan, Andrew, Blake, Drew, Briann, Jaydon, Landin, and Audie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Billy E. Sherrod, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Billy Sherrod as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
