| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Jerome L. "Jerry" Riley of Woodstock, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 20, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Riley was born in Ferndale, Michigan to |
| 6 | | William H. and Clara Eve (Cardinal) Riley on November 17, 1926; |
| 7 | | he served in the United States Army with the HQ 9th Troop Reg |
| 8 | | GP from 1945 until 1947; he married Patricia J. Dittman in |
| 9 | | Woodstock on September 15, 1951; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Riley worked for the family business, Riley |
| 11 | | and Riley Mobil, from 1950 until 1972; he then worked at the |
| 12 | | other family business, Dittman Plumbing & Heating, until his |
| 13 | | retirement in 1991; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Riley was a charter member and Unit |
| 15 | | Representative for the Woodstock Boy Scout Troop 776; he was a |
| 16 | | member of St. Mary Church, the Woodstock Knights of Columbus, |
| 17 | | where he served as treasurer, and the Woodstock VFW Post 5040, |
| 18 | | where he participated in the Honor Guard; he had a passion for |
| 19 | | woodworking, and with his friend, Albert Idler, made furniture |
| 20 | | and toys for family and friends and worked on projects for St. |
| 21 | | Mary Church; he also enjoyed traveling with Patty in their RV, |
| 22 | | golfing, reading, and baseball; in his retirement, he joined a |
