SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Dorothy A. Messer of McHenry, who passed 
4away on April 10, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer was born to Alfred and Jennie Allen 
6on March 4, 1932; she married Glen Messer in Pascagoula, 
7Mississippi on March 7, 1953; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer served as a Deacon at Faith 
9Presbyterian Church in McHenry; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer was an active member of the 
11American Legion Auxiliary Post 491, where she served as 
12president; she also volunteered for the American Red Cross; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer was preceded in death by her 
14parents; her siblings, Charles and Olga; and her 
15daughter-in-law, Marilyn; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Dorothy Messer is survived by her husband of 65 
17years, Glen; her children, Douglas Messer, David Messer, and 
18Nancy Piper; her grandchildren, Jason, Amanda, Adam, Janean, 
19Carol-Ann, Kathleen, Lauren, and Alissa; her 12 
20great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Arlene and Robert;

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Dorothy A. Messer and extend our sincere condolences to her 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Dorothy Messer as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
