SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Joseph Paul "Joe" Mendell of St. Charles, 
4who passed away on February 10, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Mendell was born in Chicago to Joseph and 
6Clara Mendell on May 19, 1929; he served with the Second 
7Division Infantry Band in Korea; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, During his life, Joe Mendell's love of singing and 
9playing music took him from school bands and vocal contests to 
10a lifetime of recording, singing, and playing his music for 
11generations of Chicagoland family events; and
  
 
  
12    WHEREAS, Joe Mendell was preceded in death by his parents; 
13his brother, Norman; his wife, Marcella; his wife, Colleen; his 
14children Dawnmarie Mendell and Vanessa Mandell-Piezbert; and 
15his stepson, David Plezbert; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Joe Mendell is survived by his siblings, George 
17Mendell, Caroline (Paul) Jurmu-Kaplan, and Frank Mendell; his 
18children, Lorine (Tom) Stoikowitz, Jeanneen (Dan) Griffin, and 
19Cyndi Mendell; his stepchildren, Julie Plezbert and Jean (Mike) 
20Busto; his grandchildren, Juliaclare Plezbert, Samantha 
21Plezbert, and Cole Mendell; and his step-grandson, Jonathan

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Joseph Paul "Joe" Mendell and extend our sincere condolences to 
5his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Joe Mendell as an expression of our 
9deepest sympathy.
