| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of James Perry "Jim" Hecht of Woodstock, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 12, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Hecht was born in Woodstock on January 7, |
| 6 | | 1935; he graduated from Woodstock High School in 1953; he then |
| 7 | | graduated Cum Laude from Carleton College in Northfield, |
| 8 | | Minnesota with Phi Beta Kappa distinction in 1957; an |
| 9 | | undergraduate internship at the United Nations paved the way |
| 10 | | for his lifelong adherence to civic duty and interest; in June |
| 11 | | 1960, he earned his LL.B. from Yale Law School and was admitted |
| 12 | | to the Illinois Bar; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Jim Hecht practiced law at his own firm on the |
| 14 | | historic Woodstock Square for 53 years; as an attorney, he |
| 15 | | received the preeminent AV rating from his peers for the |
| 16 | | highest level of legal knowledge, ethical standards, and |
| 17 | | professional excellence; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jim Hecht was involved in many community projects, |
| 19 | | including the Woodstock Opera House, the Bull Valley |
| 20 | | Association and Garden Clubs, the Illinois Migrant Council, |
| 21 | | Head Start of Woodstock, the McHenry County Conservation |
| 22 | | District and Audubon Society, the Woodstock Community Unit |
