| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Leo M. Hopkins of Milan, who passed away |
| 4 | | on February 27, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Leo Hopkins was born in Trenton, Missouri to |
| 6 | | Walter and Edith (Grim) Hopkins on April 16, 1925; he was a |
| 7 | | veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War |
| 8 | | II; he married Mary Tutonis, with whom he had two children; he |
| 9 | | later married JoAnne Kirkpatrick in Gilroy, California on |
| 10 | | November 4, 1975; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Leo Hopkins invented the fiberglass idlewild |
| 12 | | truck camper for Ranchero and El Camino vehicles; he had 29 |
| 13 | | dealers throughout the United States; he was President of |
| 14 | | Hopkins Manufacturing Corporation and retired in 1993; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Leo Hopkins was a member of Edgewood Baptist |
| 16 | | Church in Rock Island for nearly 70 years; he and his wife, |
| 17 | | JoAnne, loved to travel in the winter; in his earlier years, he |
| 18 | | enjoyed fishing and hunting; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Leo Hopkins was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 20 | | his brother, Wilbur Hopkins; and his sister, Doris Marshall; |
| 21 | | and
