     | 
| 2 |  |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  | 
| 3 |  | learn of the death of Elizabeth A. "Betty" Sullivan of Wonder  | 
| 4 |  | Lake, who passed away on January 7, 2018; and
     | 
| 5 |  |     WHEREAS, Betty Sullivan was born in Chicago to Frank and  | 
| 6 |  | Elizabeth (Leptich) Scherer on December 25, 1929; she married  | 
| 7 |  | William J. Sullivan in Chicago on April 22, 1950; and
     | 
| 8 |  |     WHEREAS, While living in Chicago, Betty Sullivan was a  | 
| 9 |  | homemaker and provided support for her husband, father, and  | 
| 10 |  | brother, as they owned and operated Armitage Hardware Store in  | 
| 11 |  | Chicago from 1949 to 1971; in 1962, she   and Bill moved to  | 
| 12 |  | Wonder Lake; they purchased the Wonder Lake Hardware store in  | 
| 13 |  | 1971 and it became Sullivan's Hardware Store; in 2002, after  | 
| 14 |  | over 30 years in business, they sold the hardware store and  | 
| 15 |  | retired in 2003; and
     | 
| 16 |  |     WHEREAS, Betty Sullivan and Bill were instrumental in  | 
| 17 |  | co-founding the Wonder Lake Chamber of Commerce, where   she   | 
| 18 |  | volunteered as treasurer for many years and was a staple of  | 
| 19 |  | chamber events; she served as a Master Property Owners  | 
| 20 |  | Association (MPOA) delegate for the Highland Shores  | 
| 21 |  | subdivision and as an officer on the MPOA Board of Directors;  | 
| 22 |  | and   | 
     |

| 1 |  |     WHEREAS, Betty Sullivan was a longtime member of Christ the  | 
| 2 |  | King Church in Wonder Lake, where she taught CCD classes; she  | 
| 3 |  | was active with the Wonder Lake Fire Department Auxiliary and  | 
| 4 |  | the Wonder Lake Women's Club; her favorite leisure time  | 
| 5 |  | enjoyments included taking cruises with her husband and  | 
| 6 |  | participating in a golf league; her biggest pride and joy in  | 
| 7 |  | life was her beautiful family; and
     | 
| 8 |  |     WHEREAS, Betty Sullivan was preceded in death by her  | 
| 9 |  | parents; her husband, William; her brother, Frank; and her  | 
| 10 |  | son-in-law, Jerry Draffkorn; and
     | 
| 11 |  |     WHEREAS, Betty Sullivan is survived by her children,  | 
| 12 |  | Barbara Sullivan, Sue Draffkorn, Leann (Sean) McMonigal,  | 
| 13 |  | Robert (Renee) Sullivan, Larry (Julie) Sullivan, and Patrick  | 
| 14 |  | (Jonnie Jo) Sullivan; and her grandchildren, Sheila (Sean)  | 
| 15 |  | Britten, Rebecca (Pavel) Tryska, Elizabeth (Chad) Stewart,  | 
| 16 |  | Amanda (Brian) Garner, Jill (Ken) Oakley, Jim (Olivia Stangret)  | 
| 17 |  | Draffkorn, Kyle Sullivan, Kelley (Joe Martinez) Sullivan, Lisa  | 
| 18 |  | Sullivan, Shane McMonigal, and Brenna McMonigal; therefore, be  |

| 20 |  |     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL  |
