SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Duaine D. Carlson of Milan, who passed away on January 17, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was born in Milan to John and Margaret Carothers Carlson on October 4, 1931; he served in the United States Army during the Korean War; he earned his associate's degree from Black Hawk College; he married Marie E. Rathbun at the Milan Presbyterian Church on May 22, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson worked as a reporter at the Argus-Dispatch, where he was the Mercer County Bureau Chief for many years; he also worked as a counselor at the East Moline Correctional Center and as a customer service dispatcher at Iowa/Illinois Gas and Electric; and

WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was a former member of Taylor Ridge Methodist Church, where he served as the church organist for many years; currently, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Milan and the Reynolds American Legion Post 1166; he was a humble man who greatly enjoyed reading history books and writing; and

WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his daughter, Kathy; his father, John Carlson; his stepfather, James Danielson; and his sister, Beverly (Russell) Allers; and

WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson is survived by his son, David; his mother, Margaret Danielson, his brother, Gareld (Judy) Danielson; and his many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Duaine D. Carlson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Duaine D. Carlson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
