| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Duaine D. Carlson of Milan, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 17, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was born in Milan to John and |
| 6 | | Margaret Carothers Carlson on October 4, 1931; he served in the |
| 7 | | United States Army during the Korean War; he earned his |
| 8 | | associate's degree from Black Hawk College; he married Marie E. |
| 9 | | Rathbun at the Milan Presbyterian Church on May 22, 1955; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson worked as a reporter at the |
| 11 | | Argus-Dispatch, where he was the Mercer County Bureau Chief for |
| 12 | | many years; he also worked as a counselor at the East Moline |
| 13 | | Correctional Center and as a customer service dispatcher at |
| 14 | | Iowa/Illinois Gas and Electric; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was a former member of Taylor Ridge |
| 16 | | Methodist Church, where he served as the church organist for |
| 17 | | many years; currently, he was a member of the First |
| 18 | | Presbyterian Church, Milan and the Reynolds American Legion |
| 19 | | Post 1166; he was a humble man who greatly enjoyed reading |
| 20 | | history books and writing; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Duaine Carlson was preceded in death by his wife, |
