| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Elmer I. Gramley of Kaneville, who passed |
| 4 | | away on November 26, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Gramley was born in Aurora to Ben and |
| 6 | | Frances (Flanders) Gramley on May 18, 1946; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Kaneland High School in 1964, where he was a member of the |
| 8 | | Future Farmers of America and made a name for himself as a |
| 9 | | trumpet player; he attended Iowa State University, where he |
| 10 | | studied agricultural science; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Gramley returned to Kaneville in 1971 and, |
| 12 | | alongside his older brother Leon, began tilling the land and |
| 13 | | tending to the livestock on the family farm; he loved to drive |
| 14 | | his beloved Peterbilt semi, hauling livestock to, and from, |
| 15 | | many parts of the country; he married Jan Demitriu in Justice |
| 16 | | on July 25, 1981; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Gramley was a member of the Kane County Farm |
| 18 | | Bureau, the National Corn Growers Association, and the National |
| 19 | | Soybean Association; he served for many years on the Kaneland |
| 20 | | School Board and was a volunteer fireman for over 30 years, 10 |
| 21 | | of them as chief; and |
