| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Elizabeth "Bettie" Sczygielski, who |
| 4 | | passed away on December 10, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski was born in Waukegan to Andrew |
| 6 | | and Mary (Rompella) Schultz on August 28, 1944; she was raised |
| 7 | | in the heart of North Chicago's Polish community and attended |
| 8 | | Holy Rosary Grade School; she attended North Chicago High |
| 9 | | School; she married Walter "Wally" Sczygielski at Holy Rosary |
| 10 | | Church on September 3, 1966; they traveled extensively during |
| 11 | | their early years together; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski worked as a cosmetics buyer for |
| 13 | | Osco Drug and retired in 1979; she then became a full-time |
| 14 | | homemaker and focused all of her energy on her family; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski was involved in many |
| 16 | | non-profit organizations and often volunteered her time; she |
| 17 | | traveled frequently to visit her grandchildren; she enjoyed |
| 18 | | baking cookies and surprising the kids with little heartfelt |
| 19 | | gifts; she also enjoyed celebrating her Polish heritage and |
| 20 | | supporting animal rescue organizations; and

| 21 | | WHEREAS, Bettie Sczygielski was preceded in death by her |
