| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Wilma S. (Slaviero) Reschke, who passed |
| 4 | | away on November 17, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke was born in Valier on February 1, |
| 6 | | 1928 and grew up in the Roseland neighborhood of Chicago; she |
| 7 | | graduated from the Northwestern University School of Nursing; |
| 8 | | and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke was a leader in her beloved |
| 10 | | community of Naperville; she helped in shaping Naperville's |
| 11 | | schools, first as president of the school board of High School |
| 12 | | District 107 and then by overseeing the merger of Elementary |
| 13 | | School District 78 and District 107 to form District 203; she |
| 14 | | was president of the District 203 school board for seven years |
| 15 | | until she was appointed as the first female on the board of |
| 16 | | directors of the Bank of Naperville (later becoming Harris |
| 17 | | Bank); she was also a founding director of the board of the |
| 18 | | Bank of Fox Valley; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke was the first Sister City |
| 20 | | Commissioner; she founded the Cancer Society (Naperville |
| 21 | | Chapter), helped found the Family Service League, organized a |
| 22 | | volunteer nursing group through Edward Hospital Auxiliary, led |
|

| 1 | | the referendum effort for Nichols Library, and served on the |
| 2 | | boards of DuPage Mental Health, Samaritan Interfaith, YMCA, and |
| 3 | | United Way; she was involved in many additional community |
| 4 | | causes; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke was preceded in death by her loving |
| 6 | | husband of 65 years, Dr. Robert L. Reschke; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke is survived by her children, Susan |
| 8 | | (William) Gorski, Wayne (Jill) Reschke, Dean (Lynell) Reschke, |
| 9 | | and Keith (Sally) Reschke; her grandchildren, Jennifer |
| 10 | | Strobel, Jeffery (Nishi) Gorski, Jason (Mindy) Gorski, Julie |
| 11 | | (Jonathan) Gates, Paul (Jenna) Reschke, Kevin (Jessica) |
| 12 | | Reschke, Melanie Reschke, Danielle Reschke, Gretchen (Zachary) |
| 13 | | Lamb, Kyle (Joy) Reschke, Kent Reschke, and Kristen (Spencer) |
| 14 | | Brown; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Sophia, Aivry, Quentin, |
| 15 | | Logan, Harrison, Amy, Aneri, Jemma, and Trevor; and her sister, |
| 16 | | Katherine Gajownik; therefore, be it

| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
| 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 19 | | Wilma S. Reschke, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 20 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
