| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Vaughn Chester Wilhite, who passed away |
| 4 | | on November 8, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Vaughn Wilhite was born in Lancaster, Kentucky to |
| 6 | | Chester Ray and Donna Doram Wilhite on August 26, 1959; his |
| 7 | | education began in Inkster, Michigan at Peterson-Warren |
| 8 | | Academy, where he was active in both school and church, |
| 9 | | including serving in Sabbath school, Pathfinders, and other |
| 10 | | church youth groups; he was an athlete who played basketball, |
| 11 | | football, and golf; he earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing |
| 12 | | from Andrews University; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Vaughn Wilhite |
| 14 | | joined the Armed Forces; he was honorably discharged from the |
| 15 | | United States Air Force as a Captain and from the United States |
| 16 | | Army as a Major; he received many medals and awards while |
| 17 | | serving on active duty as a Mental Health Nurse Specialist, |
| 18 | | including the Air Force Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf |
| 19 | | Cluster, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Air Force |
| 20 | | Training Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, and the |
| 21 | | Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; while serving in the United |
| 22 | | States Army, he received the Army Commendation medal, the Army |
| 23 | | Superior Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the |
