SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Dorothy Marguerite Arvidson of Ringwood, 
4who passed away on November 19, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dorothy Arvidson was born in Chicago to John J. 
6and Dorothy R. (Jack) Haley on June 12, 1935; she  graduated 
7from St. Scholastica High School and received her Bachelor of 
8Arts in Education from Mundelein College and a Master of 
9Education from Northern Illinois University; she  married 
10Donald Arvidson on February 15, 1958; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Dorothy Arvidson enjoyed a teaching career that 
12spanned over 28 years, beginning in Chicago and  followed by 
13Landmark School for McHenry School District 15; the remainder 
14of her career was with Johnsburg School District 12; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Dorothy Arvidson was a member of Christ the King 
16Catholic Church in Wonder Lake, the McHenry County Retired 
17Teachers Association, the Illinois Education Association, and 
18a member and past-president of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority; 
19and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Dorothy Arvidson was preceded in death by her 
21parents and her brothers, Joseph (Joan) Haley and John (Vicky)

1Haley; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Dorothy Arvidson is survived by her husband of 59 
3years, Don; her sons, Mark (Lena) Arvidson and Dan (Deborah) 
4Arvidson; her grandsons, Leif, Erik, and Ben Arvidson; and her 
5brother, Michael (Cindy) Haley; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Dorothy Marguerite Arvidson, and extend our sincere 
9condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
10her; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to  the family of  Dorothy Arvidson as an expression of 
13our deepest sympathy.
