SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Howard William Myers of Lakewood, who passed away on November 23, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Howard Myers was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 21, 1943; he attended the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics; he earned his Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston; he married Sharon Ruth Stene in Elgin on June 4, 1966; and

WHEREAS, Howard Myers was a systems software engineer for many companies including Boeing, Motorola, Berkline, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; he loved to teach and was a professor of computer science at Judson College for nearly a decade and chairman of the computer science department; and

WHEREAS, In retirement, Howard Myers enjoyed working with his son, Andy, at Acorn Landscape and visiting his son, Arvy, in Washington, D.C.; he was an avid photographer, bird watcher, and Chicago Cubs fan; he loved attending his granddaughter Lily's hockey games and building birdhouses with his grandson, Oakly; and

WHEREAS, Howard Myers is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Sharon; his sons, Howard Arvin "Arvy" (Kimberley) Myers and Andrew Carter (Jenny) Myers; his grandchildren, Lillian Helen and Oakly Carter Myers; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Carter (Carol) Stene; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Howard William Myers, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Howard Myers as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
