| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of William G. "Bill" Hansen of Richmond, who |
| 4 | | passed away on November 16, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was born in rural Hebron to Lawrence |
| 6 | | and Hilma (Anderson) Hansen on March 14, 1937; his family moved |
| 7 | | to a farm near Richmond when he was nine and he attended school |
| 8 | | in Hebron, graduating from Alden-Hebron High School in 1955; he |
| 9 | | was a member of the junior varsity basketball team when the |
| 10 | | Hebron Giants won the state championship; he was a member of |
| 11 | | 4-H, the baseball team, the student council, the yearbook |
| 12 | | staff, and the Future Farmers of America both as a member and |
| 13 | | president; he was crowned junior prom king in 1954; he married |
| 14 | | Carol Mae Hoffman at Genoa City, Wisconsin on February 10, |
| 15 | | 1973; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Bill Hansen attended the University of Illinois, |
| 17 | | taking courses in farming; he farmed in the area all his life; |
| 18 | | he was a member of the McHenry County Farm Bureau and looked |
| 19 | | forward to the times he cooked hamburgers at the fair for the |
| 20 | | Farm Bureau Food Stand; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Bill Hansen was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears |
| 22 | | and Cubs; he bowled "with the guys" in Zenda, Wisconsin for |
