SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of William A. "Bill" Otterness of Colona, 
4who passed away on November 23, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Otterness was born in East Moline  to William 
6and Betty Goforth Otterness on February 12, 1949; he served in 
7the United States Army during the Vietnam War; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Bill Otterness was a competitive drag racer for 
9several years; he liked muscle cars and Harleys; above all 
10else, Bill loved animals, especially dogs and horses, and his 
11family; and
  
 
  
12    WHEREAS, Bill Otterness was preceded in death by his 
13parents; and his grandson, Giovanni Mariscal; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Bill Otterness is survived by his daughter, 
15Jennifer Johnson; his partner, Karen Leaf, and her daughters, 
16Kristin Mariscal and Tara Leaf; his grandchildren, Kile and 
17Kyah Johnson, Nick Baird, Tanner and Gemma Paxson, and Gabriel 
18Mariscal; his siblings, Peggy Neely, Frank Otterness, Laura 
19Otterness, and Mary Wood; and his many nieces and nephews;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3William A. "Bill" Otterness and extend our sincere condolences 
4to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be 
5it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Bill Otterness as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
