| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Nancy Hoey Hanson of River Forest, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on July 12, 2017, at the age of 77; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was born to John Joseph and | ||||||
| 6 | Grace Pigott Hoey on April 25, 1940; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was an active, caring member of | ||||||
| 8 | her faith community, serving as president of the First | ||||||
| 9 | Presbyterian Church of Oak Park Guild; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson devoted her time to bettering | ||||||
| 11 | the lives of those in her neighborhood, especially the children | ||||||
| 12 | of Oak Park and River Forest; she was a member of the board of | ||||||
| 13 | directors of the Oak Park and River Forest Day Nursery and | ||||||
| 14 | helped organize referenda for the River Forest Elementary | ||||||
| 15 | Schools and the Oak Park and River Forest High School; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was heavily involved in | ||||||
| 17 | philanthropy as a member of the Community Chest of Oak Park and | ||||||
| 18 | River Forest; she served on the Community Chest's Board of | ||||||
| 19 | Governors, as campaign chairman, and as president; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson supported the Art Institute of | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Chicago as a member and then chairman of the board of directors | ||||||
| 2 | of the OPRF Community Associates and as executive chair of the | ||||||
| 3 | executive board of Community Associates; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson served as a member and president | ||||||
| 5 | of the Philanthropic Educational Organization's Oak Park | ||||||
| 6 | Chapter BI, which promoted educational opportunities for | ||||||
| 7 | women; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 9 | parents and her brother, John Bartley Hoey; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson is survived by her devoted | ||||||
| 11 | husband of 55 years, David Louis Hanson; her beloved sons, Mark | ||||||
| 12 | Louis (Burch) Hanson and United States Navy Captain Christopher | ||||||
| 13 | John (Catherine) Hanson; her cherished grandchildren, William | ||||||
| 14 | Louis and Edward McCutchen Hanson and Caroline Grace and Chase | ||||||
| 15 | Edward Hanson; and many wonderfully supportive neighbors and | ||||||
| 16 | friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 19 | Nancy Hoey Hanson, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
| 20 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
| 21 | further
