| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Allison "Al" Perring Jr. of Clinton, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 27, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring was born in Midland City to Allison Sr. |
| 6 | | and Margaret Cox Perring on August 19, 1931; he married Jean |
| 7 | | Gehlbach in Waynesville on December 29, 1950; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring served in the United States Army and |
| 9 | | was a veteran of the Korean War; after his military service, he |
| 10 | | returned to Central Illinois and began a life of farming; he |
| 11 | | received numerous agricultural awards and was a finalist for |
| 12 | | the 1979 Farmer of the Year award; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring was active as a community volunteer and |
| 14 | | leader, which included positions as the Dewitt County |
| 15 | | Republican Party Chairman, the Deland Weldon School Board |
| 16 | | President, and the Nixon Township supervisor; he was a 4-H |
| 17 | | leader and a Little League coach and official; he was a 33rd |
| 18 | | degree Mason; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring enjoyed discussing politics, family, |
| 20 | | farming, and Fighting Illini sports; he was a loving husband, |
| 21 | | father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend |
