SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lester Boe of Ottawa, who passed away on September 5, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Lester Boe was born in Wallace Township to Hans and Tillie (Dale) Boe on July 27, 1916; he attended the one-room school house of Wallace Township through eighth grade; he joined the United States Army and served as a mechanic in Europe during World War II from 1941-1945; he participated in the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Naples, and Normandy; he married Esther Johnson at Hauge Lutheran Church in Chicago on November 17, 1945; and

WHEREAS, Lester Boe farmed in Wallace and Rutland Townships and worked for Caterpillar in Aurora until his retirement; he then drove a school bus for the Serena Community Unit School District #2 for a number of years; and

WHEREAS, Lester Boe loved farm life, threshing, and attending the Sandwich Fair and antique and farm toy shows; he created many models of antique farm equipment; he also enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with his family, and going to McDonald's for daily coffee breaks; he faithfully attended church; and

WHEREAS, Lester Boe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther; his brothers, Howard, Tyler, Clarence, and Henry Boe; his sisters, Myrtle Alsvig, Alma Osthus, and Marie Low; and four siblings in infancy; and

WHEREAS, Lester Boe is survived by his children, Eugene (Gudrun) Boe, Ruth (Larry) Stanford, Russell (Nancy) Boe, and Judy (Kevin) Snook; his nine grandchildren; and his 22 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lester Boe, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lester Boe as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
