SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Carol Jean Schaefer of Morris, who passed 
4away on August 30, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer was born in Gardner to John L. and 
6Gertrude Marie (Gunderson) Hill on December 13, 1931; she 
7graduated from  Mazon High School in 1949 and married Herman V. 
8Schaefer Jr. at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca on July 29, 
91950; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer supported her husband's farm 
11operation; she also served as the Norman Township Secretary; 
12and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer was an active member of Immaculate 
14Conception Parish in Morris, where she served in many ways over 
15the years; she was also a former board member of the Grundy 
16Community Volunteer Hospice and We Care of Grundy County; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer enjoyed gardening, canning, 
18baking, cooking, and sewing and loved her flower gardens; she 
19always had a smile and a good word for anyone she met; she also 
20enjoyed collecting and selling Longaberger Baskets; she faced 
21every day with optimism and joy; and

1    WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer was preceded in death by her 
2parents; her brothers, Leroy (Marie) Hill, Elton (Delores) 
3Hill, Merwyn (Louise) Hill, Earlyn (Alvera) Hill, Lester Hill, 
4and Arden (Shirley) Hill; and her sisters, Charline (George) 
5Sutton, Mildred (Lyle) Schaulin, and Irene (LaVerne) Huston; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Carol Schaefer is survived by her husband of 67 
8years, Herman; her children, Sue (Barry) Bivens, Kevin (Nancy) 
9Schaefer, Rick (Joannie) Schaefer, Jan (Mark) Griglione, Greg 
10(Marlene) Schaefer, Joy (Greg) Skaggs, Teresa (Joe) Fruland, 
11Kerra (Brad) Guffey, and Pam Schaefer; her grandchildren, 
12Jeremy (Sarah) Bivens, Joshua (Tricia) Bivens, Jonathan 
13(Lauren) Bivens, Kindra Schaefer, Kirsten Schaefer, Kaitlyn 
14Schaefer, Annie (Chris) Novak, Dan Holler, Ryan (Alyssa) 
15Schaefer, Nicholas (Nicole) Schaefer, Brittany Schaefer, Alan 
16(Rosanna) Schaefer, Myles Johnston, Joe (Katie) Griglione, 
17Tony Griglione, Mick Schaefer, Mackenzie Schaefer, Cassandra 
18(Cliff) Taylor, Vanessa Skaggs, Joe (Amanda) Fruland Jr., 
19Matthew Fruland, Daniel Fruland, Katie Guffey, Carole Guffey, 
20Brett Brncich, and Breena Brncich; her great-grandchildren, 
21Caroline, Violet, Charlie, Olivia, Ruthie, Eli, Nadia,

23sister, Evelyn (Roger) Danielson; her sister-in-law, Irene

1therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Carol Jean Schaefer, and extend our sincere condolences to her 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to  the family of  Carol Schaefer as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
