| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of William "Bill" Mego of Naperville, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 1, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, William Mego was born in Chicago to Captain |
| 6 | | "Butch" and Edna Mego on January 25, 1944 and moved to |
| 7 | | Naperville in 1951; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, William Mego was a biologist with a Ph.D. in |
| 9 | | Molecular Biophysics; he was an adjunct professor at University |
| 10 | | of Illinois Chicago, teaching genetics and specializing in |
| 11 | | research into the molecular structure of DNA; he was a |
| 12 | | researcher at Argonne National Laboratory in bio-remediation |
| 13 | | of hazardous waste sites, applying technology to manufacturing |
| 14 | | problems, and in removing impurities from coal; he was awarded |
| 15 | | a patent on biphasic extraction of hazardous waste from |
| 16 | | manufacturing streams; he was also an adjunct professor of art |
| 17 | | at The Art Institute of Chicago, where he taught computer |
| 18 | | graphics and robotics; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, William Mego wrote a free-lance weekly opinion |
| 20 | | column for the Naperville Sun Newspaper from 1988 until |
| 21 | | September of 2017 and helped shape public opinions on many |
| 22 | | issues; he was also the author of "The Limbus of the Moon"; for |
