| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robbie C. Shoemaker Heitzman of Moline, |
| 4 | | who passed away on August 29, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman was born in Nashville, Tennessee |
| 6 | | to Pallie Pack and Charlie Morris on July 9, 1924; she moved to |
| 7 | | Chicago at the age of three with her mother and graduated from |
| 8 | | South Shore High School; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman worked for the New York Central |
| 10 | | Railroad before joining the United States Navy WAVES (Women |
| 11 | | Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II |
| 12 | | serving in communication intelligence as a telegrapher 3rd |
| 13 | | class; after her discharge in 1946, she attended the University |
| 14 | | of Illinois; she married George Shoemaker Jr. in Chicago on |
| 15 | | June 14, 1947; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman worked with her husband in the |
| 17 | | home building industry, where she decorated many show houses; |
| 18 | | she later worked for the United States Army Corps of Engineers |
| 19 | | in the Contracting Division, retiring in 1990; she founded a |
| 20 | | catering service from which she retired in 1999; after the |
| 21 | | passing of her first husband, she married Dale Heitzman in Rock |
| 22 | | Island on July 17, 1999; and |
