| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of John William Papa of Madison, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 18, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Papa was born in Madison to John Thomas and |
| 6 | | Helen (Zarr) Papa on July 29, 1925; he married Louise Beatrice |
| 7 | | (Shable) at St. Mary's Catholic Church; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, John Papa served his country with the United |
| 9 | | States Navy during World War II; he retired from Granite City |
| 10 | | Steel after over 30 years of service as a steelworker; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, John Papa was a lifelong member of St. Mary's |
| 12 | | Catholic Church in Madison, where he enjoyed helping with the |
| 13 | | pig and lamb roast; he was active with the Men's Booster Club, |
| 14 | | and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Tri-Cities |
| 15 | | Council #1098; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, John Papa was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 17 | | and his brothers, Francis, Robert, George, Rudy, William, and |
| 18 | | Joseph; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, John Papa is survived by his beloved wife; his |
| 20 | | sons, John (Pat Edwards), Francis (Lisa), and Christopher |
