| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Margarita M. Rodriguez of Joliet, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 31, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Margarita Rodriguez was born in Rincon de Tamayo, |
| 6 | | Guanajuato, Mexico to Antonio and Josefa (Melecio) Montoya on |
| 7 | | January 1, 1925; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Margarita Rodriguez was an active and dedicated |
| 9 | | member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Grupo |
| 10 | | Guadalupano; she was a catechist and the church wedding and |
| 11 | | quinceanera coordinator for many years; she loved coordinating |
| 12 | | the Profiestas Pageant, teaching waltz to courts of honor, |
| 13 | | working with brides in making their wedding plans at the |
| 14 | | church, and instructing Baile Folklorico; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Beginning in 1956, Margarita Rodriguez served |
| 16 | | alongside her husband, Navor, in chairing the Mexican |
| 17 | | Independence Celebration and on the Profiestas Patrias |
| 18 | | committee; she was also a former board member of the Spanish |
| 19 | | Community Center; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Margarita Rodriguez was a strong, independent, |
| 21 | | giving, and spiritual woman who promoted leadership, culture, |
|

| 1 | | and tradition throughout her life; she was recognized on many |
| 2 | | occasions for her community service and was the recipient of |
| 3 | | numerous awards; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Margarita Rodriguez was preceded in death by her |
| 5 | | husband of 49 years, Navor J. Rodriguez; her parents; two |
| 6 | | brothers; and two sisters; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Margarita Rodriguez is survived by her children, |
| 8 | | Anthony (Elvira) Rodriguez, Joseph (Abigail) Rodriguez, and |
| 9 | | Ayfa Marge (Jorge) Franchini; her grandchildren, Nicole |
| 10 | | (Frank) Silva, Joseph (Dayana) Rodriguez, Victoria (Richard) |
| 11 | | Guzman, Jennette Rodriguez, Daniel (Cristine) Rodriguez, |
| 12 | | Cristina (Luis) Centeno, Adrian (Gabriela) Chavez, and |
| 13 | | Michael, Alexis, and Talia Franchini; her great-grandchildren, |
| 14 | | Anthony and Christian Silva, Christopher Gonzalez, Julian |
| 15 | | Rodriguez, Gabriela, Annabelle, and Diego Guzman, Teresa, |
| 16 | | Audrey, Mia, Ava, Emilia and Evelyn Rodriguez, Luis, Julian, |
| 17 | | and Violet Centeno, Adrianna, and Mia Chavez, and Elijah |
| 18 | | Franchini; her brothers, Rev. Samuel Montoya and Angel Montoya; |
| 19 | | and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
| 21 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 22 | | Margarita M. Rodriguez, and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 23 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
