SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ralph W. Swank Jr. of Vernon Hills, who passed away on August 3, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Swank was born in Greencastle, Indiana to Ralph Sr. and Mildred Swank on May 13, 1947; he graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1965 and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; he graduated from DePauw University in 1969, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Swank was a Libertyville and Vernon Hills resident since 1973; he began his professional career with the Swank Insurance Agency in Waukegan; he later became the president of the Statewide Insurance Agency; he was past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Swank served as Libertyville Township Supervisor for eight years; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Swank was a member of St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville, where he was an active member of the men's group; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Swank was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Swank is survived by his wife, Betsy Swank; his daughters, Lisa (Tom) Bako and Sarah (Brian) Mullen; his grandchildren, Matthew, Abby, Libby, Sean, and Kate; his siblings, Bryan (Mary), Wayne (Sheila), Jay (Betty), Rod (Alice), Darryl (Kim), Stuart (Annette), Sue (Mark) Pecher, and Marianne (Van) Buehler; and his uncle, Lee Swank; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ralph W. Swank Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ralph Swank as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
