| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" Romano of Wood River, who |
| 4 | | passed away on July 23, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Romano was born in Alton to Salvatore and |
| 6 | | Antonina (Terranova) Romano on February 15, 1918; he was raised |
| 7 | | at the Catholic Children's Home and returned as a young adult |
| 8 | | to be a Boy Scout leader; he married Josephine "Jo" Berghoff in |
| 9 | | Alton on August 26, 1939; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Anthony Romano worked at Olin Corporation as a |
| 11 | | manager of the shipping and receiving department; he retired |
| 12 | | after 44 years of service; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, For over 85 years, Anthony Romano was a member of |
| 14 | | St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was part of the Holy Name |
| 15 | | Society and sang in the choir for 51 years; he was also a |
| 16 | | member of the Alton Knights of Columbus, where he served as an |
| 17 | | officer, the Management Club, the Westerner Club, the Alton |
| 18 | | Eagles, and the Alton-Wood River Sportsman's Club, where he and |
| 19 | | his wife danced every Saturday night for many years; they |
| 20 | | enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and |
| 21 | | Europe during retirement; his favorite pastime was watching |
| 22 | | Cardinal baseball and golf on TV and spending time with his |
