| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Walter H. Geuther of Rock Island, who |
| 4 | | passed away on June 18, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Walter Geuther was born in Chicago to Phillip and |
| 6 | | Anna Geuther on March 29, 1927; he served in the United States |
| 7 | | Navy during World War II; he played drums with the band "Bub |
| 8 | | and his Boys"; in his youth, he was active in the Boy Scouts; |
| 9 | | he married Norma Jean Stillwell in Leland on June 25, 1955; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Walter Geuther was employed by Burlington |
| 11 | | Northern Railroad for 36 years, retiring as train master in |
| 12 | | 1982; he then worked for Trimble Funeral Homes for 22 years, |
| 13 | | retiring in 2004; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Walter Geuther was a member of Leland Lodge No. |
| 15 | | 558, AF & AM; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline; the |
| 16 | | Amateur Radio Relay League; and the Quad City Amateur Radio |
| 17 | | Club; he operated amateur radio station K9AHH, enjoyed |
| 18 | | bicycling, exercising and fishing, and was an avid fan of the |
| 19 | | Chicago Cubs and college basketball; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Walter Geuther was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 21 | | Norma Jean; and
