SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Roy R. Unakis of Moline, who passed away 
4on June 24, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roy Unakis was born in Kewanee to Alexander P. and 
6Rosalie N. Thompson Unakis on February 11, 1940; he graduated 
7from Wethersfield High School; he served in the United States 
8Army and studied at the Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, 
9Canada; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Roy Unakis was an inspector at International 
11Harvester for many years, retiring in the 1990s; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Roy Unakis was very involved at Homewood 
13Evangelical Free Church and held several church offices; he 
14also was involved with Wycliffe Bible Translators and had a 
15passion for child evangelism; and

  
 
16    WHEREAS, Roy Unakis was preceded in death by his parents; 
17and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Roy Unakis is survived by his loving 
19grandchildren, Andy, Karen, Edmund, Joel, Joanna, and Elliot, 
20and several cousins, including Lee (Vicki) Lash; therefore, be

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Roy R. Unakis, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Roy Unakis as an expression of our 
9deepest sympathy.
