SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Norman C. Geary, who passed away on April 
428, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norman Geary was born in Grayslake to James Henry 
6and Ruby Smith Geary on June 23, 1923; he served in the United 
7States Navy Merchant Marines during World War II; he attended 
8Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington in 1946 and earned 
9his Bachelor of Philosophy in Business Administration; he 
10returned to Grayslake and married Marilyn Hook in 1952; he 
11later married Virginia Harrington Geary; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Norman Geary worked in public service 
13representing Avon Township as their supervisor and was a long 
14standing member of the Lake County Board, serving two terms as 
15the chairman; and

  
 
16    WHEREAS, Norman Geary was preceded in death by his wife, 
17Virginia; his daughter, Barbara Lynn Geary; and his brothers, 
18Francis and Adelbert "Del"; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Norman Geary is survived by his children, Robert 
20John (Jeanneatte) Geary, Diane Fox (Eric) Thurman, James Norman 
21(Cynthia) Geary,  and Kathryn Ann (Curtis) Olson; nine

1grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Norman C. Geary, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Norman Geary as an expression of our 
9deepest sympathy.
