| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Arthur Earl Keegan Jr., formerly of |
| 4 | | LaGrange and Chicago, who passed away at the age of 87; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. served in the United States Navy |
| 6 | | during the Korean War; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. was a school teacher at Jones |
| 8 | | Commercial High School in Chicago
for 30 years, where he taught |
| 9 | | accountancy, data processing, business law, business math, and
|
| 10 | | chaired the department for many years; he also coordinated the |
| 11 | | Office Occupations
program and was proud of having written the |
| 12 | | Chicago Teachers Union contract article
that governed |
| 13 | | occupation programs like Office Occupations, Distributive |
| 14 | | Education, and Industrial
Cooperative Education; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. was an active member of the |
| 16 | | Retired Teachers Association of
Chicago, where he was elected |
| 17 | | director shortly after joining; in 2008, he
was elected |
| 18 | | treasurer, and in 2014, he was elected second vice-president; |
| 19 | | and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. was a world traveler |
| 21 | | extraordinaire, having visited no less than 68
countries; and
