SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arthur Earl Keegan Jr., formerly of LaGrange and Chicago, who passed away at the age of 87; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. served in the United States Navy during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. was a school teacher at Jones Commercial High School in Chicago for 30 years, where he taught accountancy, data processing, business law, business math, and chaired the department for many years; he also coordinated the Office Occupations program and was proud of having written the Chicago Teachers Union contract article that governed occupation programs like Office Occupations, Distributive Education, and Industrial Cooperative Education; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. was an active member of the Retired Teachers Association of Chicago, where he was elected director shortly after joining; in 2008, he was elected treasurer, and in 2014, he was elected second vice-president; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. was a world traveler extraordinaire, having visited no less than 68 countries; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Keegan Jr. was the former husband of Shirley Keegan-Kollenberg; the devoted father of Arthur (Patricia), Kevin (Tamara), Kelly (Denise), Patrick Keegan (Bob Strada), and the late Brian Keegan; the cherished grandfather of Connor, Kourtney, Christopher, Nicole, Cole, Megan, Jack, and Thomas Keegan; and the dear uncle and friend of many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Arthur Earl Keegan Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arthur Keegan Jr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
