SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald E. Swanson Jr. of East Moline, who passed away on April 3, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was born in Moline to Donald E. Sr. and Evelyn Renner Swanson on November 8, 1945; he graduated from Moline High School in 1963 and was a member of the baseball team; he attended the University of Illinois where he earned his degree in accounting; he served in the United States Army Reserve and married Marcia Hoaglund in Rock Island on September 10, 1966; and

WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was an accountant and later was in automobile sales at Green Chrysler and Courtesy Nissan; and

WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was active with his church, serving in various offices and as a deacon and elder; he was a member of the Moline Elks and the Moline Jaycees; he was a coach in the East Moline Youth Baseball/Softball organization; he loved gardening, reading, and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and die-hard Illini fan; most of all he enjoyed attending his grandsons' activities, they were the light of his life; and

WHEREAS, Donald Swanson was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Donald Swanson is survived by his wife, Marcia; his children, Lynne Swanson, Jackie (Tim) Flemming, and Stephen Swanson; three grandsons, Aaron, Ethan, and Tyler Flemming; his sister, Elaine (Jim) Nelson; his stepfather, Marvin Schiess; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald E. Swanson Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Swanson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
